About this Artwork

Inspired in part by the wonder of the Aurora Borealis (or Northern lights) and its ethereal show of light and color fine art photographer Patrick Lajoie’s newest body of work playfully explores the phenomenon created when colors are captured in motion. By employing speed, rotation and movement along with the camera’s unique ability to capture light and imagery that the human eye cannot Patrick has created unique compositions that reveal a captivating blurring and merging of color.

About the Artist

Though known primarily for his photographic image transfer works on wood, Patrick’s curiosity and enthusiasm for the medium continually drive him to experiment and play with the limits of photography. For his latest Aurora series, he created unique custom-made mechanisms that enable him to spin and otherwise control and manipulate his camera and the way it is able to capture light. Born and raised in London, Ontario Patrick studied fine art at Ontario College of Art in Toronto. His work has been exhibited at major art fairs in New York City, London (UK) and Brussels and is held in private and corporate collections within Canada, the United States and Europe. Recent awards include Best Photography Award, Best Photo Based Work and Special Award for Photography.
